Celebrities get together on Panasonic Cup Race Day and For Shun Hing Group 55th Anniversary Cup

This year’s Panasonic Cup Race Day has come to a successful end today at the Sha Tin Racecourse. Chairman of Shun Hing Group Dr & Mrs William Mong, Vice-Chairman of Shun Hing Group Mr & Mrs David Mong and Vice-Chairman of Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund Ms Cheung Man-yee played hosts to their guests at the Jockey Club Box.

It has always been Shun Hing’s tradition to engage in charities and activities that benefit the community. After the Shun Hing Group 55th Anniversary Cup which was the sixth race of the day, all the guests present gathered around Dr and Mrs William Mong to sing the birthday song and cut the birthday cake in the midst of much warmth and merriment.

The Panasonic Cup Race Day this racing season, sponsored by Shun Hing Group, is the 25th one since the beginning. It was Race 9 of the day with a distance of 1,600 metres and the stake money amounting to HK$1,400,000. The Cup was won by THUMBS UP under the crop of M Du Plessis after a very close and exciting run. After the race, Mr David Mong, President of Panasonic Corporation Mr Fumio Ohtsubo and Mrs Emi Mong presented the trophies to the winning trainer, horse owner and the jockey.

Dr William Mong said, “This has been a very special Panasonic Cup, for it coincides with Shun Hing’s 55th Anniversary. So this is a good opportunity for many of our good friends to gather together to celebrate the event. On the other hand, we also try to help the needy through the Panasonic Cup. Even in these difficult times, I hope they can keep their faith in the future”.

During this year’s event, new Full-HD iDTVs measuring 37”, 50” and 65” were installed at the Members’ Enclosure to let the audiences enjoy the races in high-definition images. Besides, Shun Hing Group placed many sets of Panasonic JOBA at the paddock ring to allow race goers experience the fun and thrill of horse riding.
