A concert featuring Lang Lang and organised by Shun Hing Group in celebration of their 55th year in business took place on 25 November 2008 in The Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Lang Lang, China’s world class and world renowned pianist and maestro conductor Lu Jia collaborated with the elite orchestra to perform Pyotr llyich Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No.1 in B-flat Minor, op.23. It was a well-attended concert that attracted nearly two thousand spectators.
Shun Hing’s Chairman Dr William Mong said, “This was the last concert that the Group organized in celebration of our 55th Anniversary. But it was only the beginning in our efforts to promote classical music and music culture. It is my plan to cooperate with more outstanding musicians in order to bring the beauty of music to the public, and allow people of Hong Kong to benefit from the aesthetical experience that music can give them”.
Other performing guests in the concert are violinist Gu Chen and Oboist Huang Zheng, who both gave dazzling performances under the inspirational baton of the famous conductor Lu Jia, the first Asian conductor who directed the National Opera House of Italy. Perlie Mong, the youngest daughter of Dr William Mong, also delighted the audience with her interpretation of Chopin’s Nocturne in E-flat, op.9 No.2 and Rachmaninoff’s Prelude op.23 No.5.
