Shun Hing Group and CUHK Present the Lecture Series in Arts and Humanities Renowned Picture Book Author Jimmy Liao Spoke on “Creation through illustration; my passion”

The Shun Hing Lecture Series invited Mr. Jimmy Liao, a world renowned picture book author, to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 10 January 2014   as the guest speaker for the Shun Hing Lecture in Arts and Humanities.  Jimmy spoke on the topic 'Creation through illustration; my passion', attracting about 1,500 CUHK staff and students, alumni, secondary school students and members of the public.  Jimmy displayed a number of his works on the large-scale screen of the venue, with his verbal elaboration. This earned the full attention of the audience. CUHK also arranged live webcast for the public.  After his lecture, Jimmy took questions from the floor and had a fruitful interaction with the audience.  A book signing session was also held for Jimmy to meet Hong Kong readers up close.

 

Jimmy Liao graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese Culture University in Taipei, Taiwan.   He published his first two books Secrets in the Woods and A Fish that Smiled at Me in 1998.   Including popular works such as Turn Left Turn Right, The Moon Forgets, and The Sound of Colors, Jimmy has published many illustrated books of amazing originality and with multi-faceted narratives.   He has set a fashion in creating and publishing illustrated books in local and international markets.   It is also worth mentioning that Jimmy's works have been transformed for various settings - theme music albums, TV series, stage presentation, film adaptation and other styles.
