Shun Hing Group Fully Supports Hong Kong Athletes Presents "Fly High, Hong Kong Athletes" on Cathay Pacific and HOY TV Channel 77
Ready to Welcome Paris Olympics Showcasing the Spirit of Hong Kong Athletes
The quadrennial international sports event – Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be held soon, with 35 athletes’ participation representing the Hong Kong, China Team. Shun Hing Group has been a staunch supporter of Hong Kong athletes, dedicated to promoting the sports development in Hong Kong.
Shun Hing Group has specially sponsored the programme "Fly High, Hong Kong Athletes" which is broadcast on Cathay Pacific and HOY TV Channel 77, showcasing the inspirational stories behind the all-out efforts of these athletes. Through interviews delving into the athletes' competitions and their own personal journeys, the programme aims to inject positive energy into the community.
The Hong Kong, China team achieved the historical record of winning 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, a total of 6 medals, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Aside from the athletes' hard work, this success can also be attributed to the Hong Kong spirit: indomitable spirit, courage to face challenges head-on and the strong adaptability in ever-changing environment. Hong Kong athletes embodied this unique Hong Kong spirit on the playing ground. Gaining a deeper understanding of Hong Kong athletes is a way to show support for them, and it also demonstrates the eagerness to see the development of Hong Kong. It is hoped that they will achieve even greater accomplishments at the upcoming Olympics.
" Fly High, Hong Kong Athletes" is a 13-episode programme, hosted by professional sports commentator Keyman. Cathay Pacific has been airing the programme since 1st July.
The first 5 episodes feature the following athletes - Ng Ka Long shares his badminton training and personal life; Yeung Man Wai expresses her feeling while facing sports injuries; Chan Chiu Kwan recounts his football journey; Chiu Hin Chun shares his struggles in transitioning from windsurfing to rowing; and Chu Ka Mong, who fell in love with fencing through a movie, talks about the joys and challenges of the sport.
The second round of episodes will start airing on 1st August, featuring Leung Yuk Wing, who overcame physical challenges to take up boccia, discussing his reasons for getting involved in the sport; Choi Chun Yin shares the valuable lessons he learned from inter-school competitions; Yu Nga Yan talks about how she resolves the challenges she faced in long jump; Ching Siu Nga, who transformed from having no interest in sports to becoming the Queen of Race Walker.
The final round of episodes will start airing on 1st September, including Wong Kam Po shares the importance of cycling in his life; Au Hoi Shun, who took up swimming to fulfill the wish of others, discussing the ups and downs she experienced; Yiu Kam Shing, the first Chinese rugby player, talks about his retirement; Luk Chun Yin and C Plus discuss how their sports interests evolved into professional careers.
Shun Hing Group is passionate in supporting and promoting sports development in Hong Kong. Panasonic has been a global partner of the Olympic Games since 1988, and Shun Hing Group has also invested resources to support the development of sports culture in Hong Kong. Since 2010, Shun Hing Group has jointly launched the "Panasonic Sports Scholarship Programme" with the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, to help Hong Kong athletes improve their performance. Hong Kong athletes who have received the sports scholarship include Cheung Ka Long, Kong Man Wai, Siobhan Haughey, Soo Wai Yam, Lau Mo Sheung, Ho Yentou, Chiu Hin Chun, and Lee Ho Ching, etc.
The Group also provides various support to athletes from the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled and the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Deaf. Since 2008, the Group has sponsored the " Panasonic Inter-school Basketball Competition" under the Panasonic brand, and fully supported the "Panasonic Asia Pacific Water Polo Tournament". In recent years, Shun Hing Group has also organized the "Panasonic Pacers Easter Charity Run" to encourage the public to actively participate in sports.
