The Mong Family Foundation supports refurbishment of Sidney House at the University of Cambridge
Mr David Mong, Chairman & Group CEO of the Shun Hing Group joined in person the official opening of Sidney House at the University of Cambridge on 15 May 2015 (the UK time). The Sidney House was refurbished in 2014 with the generous support of the Mong Family Foundation in memory of Sir Gabriel Horn (Master, 1991-1999).
Since the Sidney House was opened, the first two floors above the ground floor have been leased to solicitors for 140 years. The Sidney Sussex College ended the lease to solicitors in time for the renovation work to begin in 2014. This impressive conversion saw the creation of 28 new student rooms, replacing rooms the College is losing in Portugal Street, when the lease with St John's expires.
'The student rooms are spacious, light and airy with a beautiful view over Sidney Street. The communal kitchen not only makes student life more convenient, but also much more enjoyable. Students love using the kitchen for cooking, socializing and working,' said Mr Mong.
