SHECF Donates RMB 30 Million to Support Education and Healthcare Development in Celebration of Jinan University’s 120th Anniversary
In celebration of the 120-day countdown to Jinan University’s 120th anniversary, the university held its inaugural collective donation ceremony on 19 July 2026. Dr. David Mong, Chairman and CEO of Shun Hing Group attended the ceremony, accompanied by Mr. Yu Sun, Party Secretary of Jinan University, Prof. Feng Xing, President of Jinan University, Prof. An Hong and Prof. Hong Zhang, Vice-Presidents of Jinan University, witnessing this momentous occasion.During the ceremony, Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund pledged a total donation of RMB 30 million to fully support the strategic development of Jinan University. With this funding, RMB 20 million will be dedicated to global talent recruitment with the goal of building an international faculty and academic team, fostering top-tier medical professionals. The remaining RMB 10 million is designated for clinical medical research at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, aiming to drive medical innovation and scientific breakthroughs.
Dr. Mong Man Wai, founder of Shun Hing Group, served as the director of Jinan University starting in 1979, playing a key role in its growth over the years. He made significant contributions to the Physics Building in 2002, fostering talent development and course advancements. Since 2004, Dr. David Mong has continued this legacy as the director of the University.
In his address, Dr. David Mong expressed deep gratitude for the longstanding relationship between the Mong’s family and Jinan University. He emphasized that Shun Hing Group will continue to uphold its core philosophy of "give back to the society", expressing his hope that the next generation will maintain this enduring partnership. He highlighted that the donation is intended to significantly advance education and medical science.
Following the donation ceremony, Dr. David Mong attended the plaque-unveiling ceremony for the International Digestive Endoscopy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, accompanied by Prof. An Hong, Vice-President of Jinan University, Dr. Xiao-fei Zheng, Dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University, and Dr. Wei Huang, Director of the International Digestive Endoscopy Center. Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund donated RMB 5 million in 2022 to support the center's construction. The opening of this new clinical faculty will further apply advanced medical research to practical healthcare solutions, benefiting patients and the wider community.
